How did you get into photography? I used to ride BMX with friends in high school and we would always talk about how we wanted to produce a video of the little crew we had. One thing led to another and I got my first video camera - I burnt the damn thing out because I would replay the tapes over and over until the heads finally had their last straw. I got pretty frustrated with that and thought about how I could continue documenting my friends without having to worry so much about the device crapping out and the thought of photography came about. I got my first 35mm shortly afterwards and so it began, as they say.
What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally? Refreshing new work from photographers you already look up to always gets the gears cranking for me. Another thing is, and as cheesy or corny as it sounds - light. Seeing how light reacts throughout the day
What was the last interesting dream you remember? Damn, a few weeks ago - I dreamed that I was on a game show and I won a nice chunk of money. I thought about how I was going to upgrade in some gear but then I woke up.
Your favourate photographer/artist? That’s tough but lately, I’ve really been into Joel Meyerowitz.
Latest obsession? Espresso on ice has been greater than usual lately.
If you could speak another language what would it be? Well, I used to be able to speak Vietnamese when I was younger but I can only just understand it now. It would be great to get that back again as it would be handy in photographing people in Vietnam!
