How did you get into photography?  It’s in my genes. My father is a photo addict in the UK, and after posing for him in my early years I got my first camera as a 14th birthday present.
What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally? For me it’s all connected. The inspiration comes from the looking – whether it be connecting with the masters like Henri Cartier Bresson, or simply taking time to see for the pure pleasure of seeing. This slowing down or purposeful act takes me into this quiet space, allowing the beauty in all things to be revealed.
What makes a good image to you? One that I keep coming back to and want to see again. Not necessarily to see something new, but to enjoy the lines, form, geometry, light and other qualities it exudes.
Your favourite film and why? Frida. I just love the pace, the story and acting, and so many messages of hope, tinged with despair.
Your favourite quote? “We are not human beings having a spiritual experience; we are spiritual beings having a human experience.” – Pierre Teilhard de Chardin
What was the last interesting dream you remember? Some days everything feels like a dream.
Your favourite photographer/artist? Too many to choose. The list would include HCB, later Jackson Pollock, Bertil Vallien, Rodolfo Morales, Graciela Iturbide, Jacek Malczewski and Josef Koudelka.
Latest obsession? Indian food.
If you can sum up your photos in one word, what would that be? Stillness.
If you could speak another language what would it be? One that everyone understood.
